Review

Three nights & Four days is a laugh-out loud romantic comedy by Shilpa Jain. The book is written in an omnipresent first person’s perspective and it’s narrated by a twelve year old little girl Pari, who talks too maturely for her age. This perspective in itself was kind of new and odd but the way the little narrator narrated the plot was extremely refreshing and adorable.

The plot was simple and effective. The story is about the Three nights & Four days vacation the lead characters take to the Bandhavgarh National Park. The vacation spent there had been beautifully written and it had the caliber to take you the National Park right away and experience all of it with the effortless descriptive of the author.

The way new characters were added to the plot was really amazing and how the author made use of each of these characters was completely wonderful. All the characters were funny and cool, they would definitely bring a smile on the readers face. The narrative style was very unique, humorous and engaging. To see the world from a twelve year old’s eyes was extraordinarily amusing and chucklesome.

The characterization of Pari was mind-blowing, how such a young person can be so visionary and determinant was par beyond my understanding. Her desire to reunite her mother and her father, her loyalty and love for her father, her uncertainty in hating Anil and his daughter Tisha. All these things made Pari so likable, real and charming. Her scheming skills were exceptionally good. She is a very good narrator who has the power to draw readers to her side and her cause in a jiffy.

The relationship she shared with her father, that is her ex-stepfather was the most amazing and the best thing in the book. Their relationship was so pure and beautiful. Jai will make the readers fall in love with him in no time with his affectionate and fatherly behavior towards Pari. There were many other secondary main characters in the book who all did their part perfectly to make this book and the reading experience wonderful.

The writing style of the author is the foremost success of this book. The way the author had written the book in a simplistic manner with the language as easy as ABC was incredible. The effortless and uncomplicated writing style of Shilpa made the reading process very simple, even a child could read this book without trouble. The flow of the book was very smooth and silky.

There was a couple of logical lapses in the plot, they weren’t anything major but when you’re reading it keenly it’s impossible to miss. If the author paid a little more attend or proofread a couple of times it could’ve been avoided. Despite that the book was completely amazing.

My Views

I had a good laugh reading this book. It was very funny, heart-warming and a very satisfying read. The book had good characters and nice character development. I loved Pari so much, the way she carried herself with so much pride and confidence at that age was remarkable. I love the way she fought for her father and her readiness to do anything to make her father happy was heartening. I love Jai and Pari relationship. The father-daughter duo was simply amazing. Right from the beginning I started to root for Jai and his success, just like Pari. I would proudly say I’m team Jai and Pari! The conversation Jai and Pari have with each other were the funniest of all, I highlighted most of their conversation and I loved this book so much for this father-daughter duo.

I also liked how Tisha and Pari fight each other to make sure their fathers be on the winning side. I really really enjoyed and loved this book so much. I wasn’t expecting that this book was going to be such an amazing read. It felt like watching a happy feel good Netflix Rom-com.

The cover could’ve been even more appealing because it kind of betrayed the content and the plot of the book. In general, books with appealing and beautiful covers has the highest chances of getting read and picked up. This book was super good and I want this book to reach as many readers as possible. And I guess with an even more beautiful cover this book could reach wider set of audience.

My rating for this book would be 4.7 out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I would recommend this book to beginners, this book will literally make you fall in love with the idea of reading books. It has a super easy language and it is a short read. I finished it in a single sitting. I also recommend this book to all the people who want to read a hearty Rom-com and have good laugh. If you love stories revolving around funny and goofy father and daughter duo kind of story then you will absolutely love it!!
