Gwen’s Christmas with the Perrys is turning into a holiday to remember…for all the wrong reasons.

Hot chocolate by the fire. Christmas carols. Stolen kisses in the snow. When Gwen’s boyfriend Evan invites her to spend Christmas with his family, she pictures a perfect Hallmark holiday scene, complete with all the happy sighs and swoons.

But between Evan’s brother who schedules the family’s every move, his sister who’s never met a mirror she didn’t like, and the amorous newlyweds who flaunt their sexcapades, Gwen finds herself dodging the Perrys like it’s her job. The more Evan’s family brings their own brand of chaos to Christmas, the more Gwen wonders if she’s in over her head, and if the Christmas of her dreams is going to turn into a nightmare.

Review

A Very Perry Christmas is the newly released book of Marie Landry for this Christmas season. There are a few authors whose words will bring the setting and the mood of the book live in front of our eyes in no time and Marie Landry is undoubtedly one such author.

A Very Perry Christmas is a very short and fulfilling read that brings immense happiness and tear of joy to the readers. With Christmas just a month away reading these kind of typical Christmas based books is a total bliss. The whole idea and mood of the book was really impressive and interesting. The author managed to haul the attention of the readers from the very first page.

It is a the story of Gwen who visits her Boyfriend Evan’s family, the Perry Siblings. All of the siblings are so different from one another and unique in their own ways. Though they all spend their mandatory Christmas holidays together as a family, they are so very distant from one another. The only reason they meet during this holiday was because of their oldest sibling, Jasper, who is way more stricter and disciplined than any parent could be.

Gwen starts off this vacation with an idea of having a perfect Christmas holiday with the Perry family but it doesn’t turn out to be so. She being the outsider among the siblings finds it pretty different and difficult to understand why there is an enormous amount of distance that is prevailing among them. Can Gwen turn around this disastrous forced holiday of Perry family into a remarkable one ? Or will she run to the hill after encountering the family drama ? That’s the story of the book.

The characterization of each member of the Perry family was really amazing. Every character was distinct and managed to make a mark on the reader’s minds and hearts. It would be really cool to read each one of their stories separately, all the characters were that interesting. The character that stood apart from everyone else was Jasper. His story was extremely intriguing and like assuaging our appetite, the author had promised to come up with Jasper’s story by next year 😀 cannot wait for it.

The Christmas mood was on full flow. It literally felt like Christmas and the Christmassy things they all did together was enticing. The family traditions the Perry’s follow and everything had a tone and color to it which made the book even more interesting. The romance and spark between Gwen and Evan was really amazing and it was completely irresistible. Instead of going deep into how these characters fell in love and all, the book simple commenced with the story of a couple who are already in love. That was quite different. Every sequence between them was so adorable.

Gwen is definitely a keeper, the way she cracked the ice between all the Perry Siblings was super cool. Though it was a short read, it had a great impact and gave a immeasurable happiness while reading. On the whole, the book was really nice and it would damn perfect for this season.

My Views

I generally like Rom-com and feel good books. And I’m a sucker for family drama and siblings love and this book exactly gave me that in full dose. I have already read Only you by the author and absolutely loved it. So, I was very sure even before starting this book that it was going to be amazing and Marie did not let me down. I loved every single thing about this book. I really love Marie’s narrative style, how she presents a simple story in a spectacular manner just like a happy Netflix Christmas movies we watch during the seasons. It is books like these, that are making me very excited for this Christmas more than anything else.

What I really like about Marie is all her books have a connection. With this book, Gwen and Evans were friends with Hugh and Ivy who are my favorite character from Only You. As soon as this was established in the story I started liking Gwen and Evan even more as they are friends with my favorite characters.

I wanted to pinpoint what are the sequences and scenes I liked in this book but that would be a total spoiler and I don’t want to do that to you guys. Read this book and this will lift our mood by thousand times. This is the kind of book I needed to read right now and Thank you Marie for providing me the opportunity to read it.

My rating for this book would be 4 out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I recommend this book to all the Romance, Rom-Com, feel good, happy, family drama and Christmas lovers, you will love it. If you’re someone contemplating what to read then pick up this book, it is the perfect season to experience it.
