Review

Bitter sweet revenge is a collection of short stories in crime thriller genre. It consists of eight crisply written short stories. All the short stories are different from one another, from the very base. The idea behind each plot was amazing, sharp and unique. But it lagged lot of details and emotions. All the stories in this book was unnecessarily running in a fast pace that it failed to emotionally connect with the readers and it almost felt like reading a synopsis of a book. A vital thing for a book to accomplish is to, emotionally connect with the readers and make them care for the characters which completely didn’t happen with this book. The characters in the book was unique in their own way but the author ceased to make them a remarkable one. There wasn’t even a single character which would stay in the mind of the readers forever.

The way the author has covered different mentality of human beings was really commendable, that’s the core of this book. It focused on greed, jealousy, selfishness and all other shortcomings in human mind which leads them to an undesirable position in life, is something that definitely needs a lot of appreciation. This book works on the ideology “Karma is a Boomerang” and “revenge”. Certain stories in the book was really well written and had the potential to be written as a full-fledge novel. The flow of the stories were smooth. All the stories in this book had a good moral in the end to offer but the ending of all them was highly predictable and was cliché. Though it’s called a crime-thriller, there wasn’t anything thrilling about it, these stories wasn’t spine-chilling or eerie and that was extremely disappointing. Also the titles given to the short stories were catchy but it seemed highly irrelevant. And the cover could have been even more enticing.

This book would be suitable for people wants to have a very quick read and people who doesn’t have the patience to read a long story or a novel. The book was written in a simplistic manner, so I would highly recommend this book to beginners who are finding it very difficult to read books. This collection of short stories will help you read more and become a full-fledged reader.

My rating for this book would be

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
