Review

There are very few books which will out-rightly make the readers blush and make butterflies flutter inside their belly. And these kind of books are rare and has the tendency to bring the romantic inside the readers out alive in no time. Undoubtedly Sudha Nair’s Love un-stuck is one such book.

Love un-stuck has a very simple story filled lot of romantic and sensual sequences. It not only had romance, it had a plethora of entertaining factors. It was funny and witty. The way the story commence with the normal Indian household activities and conversation, made the book akin right from the very beginning.

The story starts with the wedding of the Protagonist Kyra’s best friend Shammi. The author had perfectly given the aura of the wedding through this story and her narration. The entire wedding part was funny and fast moving. It was one epic wedding which will make the readers chuckle every now and then. Though there was only minimal scenes between Kyra and Shammi the author had managed to portray the friendship between these girls beautifully.

The character description of the support characters like Kyra’s Father, mother, brother and Raju Kaka was also penned down meticulously. The character of Kyra’s mother and father was similar to that of a typically Indian parents and at many instances it was very relatable. The loving bond between Kyra and her little brother Chintu was so cute to read. Even their infinitesimal presence felt whole and fulfilling. All these support characters made the book real in their very own way.

The way Kyra and Irfan gets drawn to each other was written so charmingly. Their persona will engage the readers throughout the book. The character development and their quirkiness will make the readers get attached to them emotionally. And their romantic sequences was the cherry on top of the icing. This will leave the readers and the lovers of this genre satisfying and pleasing.

Kyra singing to important people and on events and festivals were nerve-wracking. The author had managed to bring that nervousness, chills and stage fright in the hearts of the readers. And this fright and feeling was very strong and undeniable. This particular part of the book is the most successful part of the book because the author had practically made the readers go through these feelings as she intended to do.

Though the plot was simple and good, there were indeed a few logical lapses which cannot be forsaken. For example, the author has written about kids being adopted in a very filmy way and the legal issues in them were conveniently neglected for the sake of the plot. And the author has also failed to specify when the story is taking place. But there were several references of YouTube, Instagram and video calls, so it must technically be the present decade. But where the problem lies is the Protagonist Kyra, a twenty-two year old girl roaming around without a mobile-phone in her hands was completely unbelievable in the present time. And it is said she is using PCO to contact her parent, I don’t know whether the PCO’s are still in existence in this era or not.

Irfan is a music director in Bollywood but there was no celebrity aura to him and while reading his character, it felt more like a boy next-door and not that of celeb. I think the author had intend to show him as a down-to-earth kind of a person and how natural and good he is with his hometown folks without any head-weight and there is nothing wrong with that but a bit of a hype and celebrity aura sizzling around him could’ve been more realistic and it would’ve done much more justice to his character.

Apart from these few lapses the book was completely marvelous. On the whole it was a feel good book with a happy and generous ending.
